Contributoria is a member-supported writing platform for journalists which enables writers to collaborate on all aspects of the writing process including commissioning, editing and publication.
Paying members of the community can back story proposals, and winning writers will get paid for their work - for a fee the writer sets themselves.
Initially funded as a winner of the News Innovation Contest from the International Press Institute and sponsored by Google, Contributoria is designed to operate like a cooperative and inspire writers and journalists to support each other.
During this early beta stage of the platform, Contributoria is offering free membership.
Today Contributoria is supported by Guardian Media Group which is wholly owned by The Scott Trust Ltd, and exists to secure the financial and editorial independence of the Guardian in perpetuity.
